UNITED FLYING OCTOGENARIANS CHARTER

 

 

We the undersigned join together to form this organization for the dissemination of information and safety concerning the art of flying.  This shall be a non-profit service organization in accordance with IRS regulation Section 601 (c) (3).

 

CONDITION OF MEMBERSHIP

 

Any pilot who has reached the age of eighty (80) years of age, holds a current airman’s flight certificate and a current flight physical, and has made one or more flights as a pilot in command after reaching such age, shall be eligible for membership.

 

LIABILITY

 

The liability of each member shall be the payment of the annual dues and shall be limited to the payment of dues

 

ANNUAL MEETING

 

The annual meeting shall be held yearly at the time and place of the annual AOPA Expo, unless otherwise directed by the Board of Directors

 

The annual meeting shall elect a six-member Board of Directors, which shall consist of a mail vote of all members conducted in October of each year.  The President shall be the person nearest the annual meeting - the Vice President the next closest to the annual meeting.  The Secretary-Treasurer to be a volunteer position to be at the approval of the Board of Directors.

 

All officers and directors shall serve a two-year term of office.

 

The Board of Directors shall have the power to fill any vacancy in office for the remainder of the term.  The vacant office shall be filled by an affirmative vote of at least seventy-five percent (75%) of the remaining Board of Directors.

 

DUES

 

The annual amount of the dues shall be determined by the board of directors and shall be approved at the annual meeting.

 

The annual dues must be paid by June 1st of each year. If the dues are not paid by June 1st, the membership of the non-dues payer shall be terminated.

 

Upon receipt of the application of membership the secretary shall issue a membership card and keep a record of the current membership card.

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

The Board of Directors shall have the power to authorize payment for all necessary expenses of the organization.  This shall be limited to paper printing, long distance telephone expenses, postage, etc.

 

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

 

The application for membership shall contain the following:

 

The undersigned hereby agrees that he has received and read a copy of the United Flying Octogenarian charter and that he or she agrees to abide by the terms and conditions set forth therein.

 

The application may contain any other pertinent information that is deemed by the Board of Directors.

 

We the undersigned members of the first Board of Directors attest that the above and foregoing document was passed the 20th day of October, 1983 and hereby set our hand to attest to the validity of the document.
